To free the location for the future C band earth station, we moved the receive only antenna to a temporary place. | ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
The receive only
C band UDLR antenna was located at the place where we had the first Ku satellite
dish. This location is well situated for JCSAT 3 satellite, it also has very
solid and stable foundations, so it will be used for the C band earth station
to come.
We had to relocate the receive only dish to some other place before we could start building the new C band station.
The antenna (mesh type, 1.8 meters) has been mounted on four concrete blocs. The central bloc, supporting the mast is 50x50x10 centimeters. The three blocs located on the stabilizing arms are 30x30x10 centimeters. All the blocs were prepared with casted screws to mount the antenna. We simply place the concrete blocs on a relatively flat surface of grass and moved the antenna to the new location.
Care was given that the mast is perfectly vertical.
When moving the dish, the elevation was not modified (one of the screws that are used to adjust the elevation was not moved) so pointing was basically finding the proper azimuth. This could be done by monitoring the C/N value on the satellite receiver.
